Overview
Budget GPA ("the App") is operated by Legendarily Imperfect, LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not display ads. We do not share your financial information with third parties for marketing purposes.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account information — Email address and password when you create an account.
- Financial data you enter manually — Income, debts, savings balances, budget categories, budget amounts, and transactions.
- Subscription data — Recurring charges you track within the App.
- Preferences — Scoring settings, alert preferences, theme selection, and notification preferences.
Information Collected Automatically
- Device information — Device type, operating system version, and app version.
- Crash and error logs — Anonymous error reports to help us identify and fix bugs.
- Purchase history — Subscription status managed through RevenueCat.
Information Collected Through Third-Party Services
- Bank account data (Pro users only) — If you choose to connect a bank account, transaction data is imported through Plaid. See Section 3 for details.
2. How We Use Your Data
We use your data exclusively to provide and improve the App:
- Calculate your financial health score across five categories.
- Track budgets, transactions, and subscriptions.
- Generate alerts and trend analysis.
- Classify transactions using AI (Pro feature).
- Send email digests if you opt in.
- Process purchases and manage your subscription.
- Diagnose technical issues and improve app stability.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.
3. Third-Party Services
Supabase (Database & Authentication)
Handles account authentication and data storage. Your data is stored in a Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL database with row-level security. Privacy policy
Plaid (Bank Connection — Pro Only)
Provides secure connection to your bank accounts. Plaid imports transaction data and account balances. Your bank login credentials are handled entirely by Plaid and never shared with us. Bank connections are optional and can be disconnected at any time. Privacy policy
Anthropic / Claude API (AI Classification — Pro Only)
Uncategorized transactions are sent to Anthropic's Claude API for automatic category suggestions. Only merchant names, amounts, and dates are sent — no account numbers, balances, or personally identifying information. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train models. Privacy policy
RevenueCat (Subscription Management)
Handles in-app purchase processing and subscription status tracking. RevenueCat receives your anonymous app user ID and purchase receipts — not your financial data. Privacy policy
Expo / EAS (App Delivery)
Manages app builds, updates, and push notification delivery. Privacy policy
SendGrid (Email Digest — Optional)
Delivers email digests if you opt in. Receives your email address and digest content. Privacy policy
4. Data Storage and Security
- Your financial data is stored in a private Supabase database with row-level security. Only authenticated requests from your account can access your data.
- Passwords are hashed and never stored in plaintext.
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption.
- Bank connections use Plaid's bank-level encryption. Your bank credentials are never stored by or transmitted to us.
- We do not store credit card or payment information — all purchases are processed by Apple, Google, or RevenueCat.
5. Data Retention
- Your data is retained as long as your account is active.
- If you delete your account, your data is permanently removed from our database. This action is irreversible.
- Plaid connections are severed when your account is deleted or when you manually disconnect a bank account.
6. Your Rights
- Access your data — View all data the App holds about you through the App's interface.
- Export your data — Pro users can export transactions and report card data as PDF or CSV.
- Delete your account — Permanently delete your account and all associated data from within the App's Settings screen.
- Disconnect bank accounts — Remove Plaid connections at any time without deleting your account.
- Opt out of email digests — Disable email digests at any time from Alert settings.
- Opt out of push notifications — Disable notifications from Alert settings or your device's system settings.
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, or CCPA. Contact us at the address below to exercise these rights.
7. Children's Privacy
Budget GPA is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by email. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
